Backup And Restore Using Duplicator Pro

Step 1: Create a New Package

Access Duplicator Pro.

  1. Log in to WordPress Admin Dashboard:
  2. Create a New Package:
    • Now click the Create New button.
    • In the Package Setup, enter a name for your package.
  3. Setup Options:
    • Storage: Choose the backup storage location (local server, cloud storage, etc.).
    • Archive: Select files and database tables to include (default includes all).
    • Installer: Configure new site options such as database settings (optional for now).
  4. Build the Package:
    • Click Next.
    • Ensure all system scan checks are green or review any warnings.
    • Click Build to create the package.
  5. Download the Package:
    • After the build, download the Installer (PHP file) and the Archive (ZIP file) to your local computer.

Step 2: Restore the Backup.

Import the Backup Archive

  1. Select Import:
    • In the Duplicator Pro interface, click on the Import tab.
  2. Upload the Archive File:
    • Click Upload.
    • Select the backup archive file (ZIP file) from your local computer.
    • Click Open to start the upload.
  3. Wait for Upload Completion:
    • The upload duration depends on the archive size and your internet speed.
    • Once uploaded, the archive file will be listed under Imported Packages.

Run the Installer.

  1. Start the Installer:
    • Now click the Install button next to the imported package.
  2. Step 1: Deployment:
    • The installer verifies the archive file.
    • Click Next to extract the archive and set up site files.
  3. Step 2: Install Database:
    • Enter the database name, username, and password.
    • Click Test Database to ensure a successful connection.
    • Click Next to import the database and proceed with restoration.
  4. Step 3: Update Data:
    • Now verify the URL, path, and site title.
    • Click Next to finalize data updates.
  5. Step 4: Test Site:
    • The installer completes the setup and provides options to test the new site.
    • Click the Admin Login button to log in and verify everything is working correctly.
